Hi! I’m Lynn Gorman - Running to be your Positive Choice for the U.S. House of Representatives! At the present time, we are in Ohio’s 13th District. Things are subject to change, as challenges to Congressional maps are being considered in the Ohio Supreme Court.
One thing that will not change is my determination to run for Congress from where I actually live. I also pledge to only run a positive campaign. I believe much more can be accomplished by focusing on solutions to improve the lives of Ohio residents than finding fault and tearing things down.
In 5th grade, my teacher wrote on my report card “A fine girl, but too sensitive for her own good.” This comment was a result of the teacher hearing me crying because a fellow classmate was being picked on. My empathy for others has only grown since then. I have found myself drawn to different jobs/careers, in which caring for and about people was necessary. From teaching and coaching elementary and junior high students, to working 20 plus years helping children and adults with special needs, to ordained ministry which focused on helping women veterans, the poor, the hungry, the addicted, and the incarcerated, I have found that working to uplift others is the most rewarding work.
Last Spring, I looked around this country and saw so many hurt, angry, and fearful people. I decided I was willing to do what I could to help bring healing to these people. With God’s leading, I made the decision to run for Congress. When the Census information came out, I knew that, being in the 16th District, my district number would no longer exist.
Along with all of the re-districting maps, along with Congressman Gonzalez’s decision to not seek re-election, Congressman Ryan’s decision to seek another office, there was no certainty as to what my District would look like or who might be running. Even among this uncertainty, I have committed to these foundational principles for my campaign:
1. The Campaign is to make a run for the office of U.S. House of Representatives from the District I live in.
2. The Campaign will only be a positive Campaign for that office. It will not be a campaign against anyone who also may be running.
3. There will no negative personal attacks on anyone during the Campaign.
4. Respecting all people, I will run as an Independent Candidate. The left wing and the right wing belong to the same bird.
5. As far as is humanly possible, this Campaign will be transparent and always seek and speak the truth.
As the line from the song The Greatest Love of All says “I believe that children are our future.” Therefore, many of my positions on issues take into consideration how they affect children. “Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be.” I intend to run my Campaign from a point of joy rather than fear. Even though there will be some political events such as Townhall Meet and Greet, there also will be some family-friendly fun events! So, please keep checking back on our Events page.
I intend to be
A Different Type of Candidate for a Different Time!
